It is about 35% polymer binder. The binder is FDA approved; it can contact food. But do not eat or drink directly from it, especially with hot drinks. It has a small hole in the bottom to stop someone from using it for liquid.

Each is similar, but Bamboo Carbon usually has less bubbles, so it is a bit heavier.
